Portrait photography is a method of freezing the moment in which the person or model exists. It is able to convey emotions, movement and atmosphere, and thus evoke the moment in which the model and the photographer were. Due to decades of developing photographic technologies, various methods of portrait photography have also been developed. Given that photography is popularized precisely through portraiture, it is clear that there are countless methods of photography. In history, the portrait has served as a tool to capture the soul of the model, which has remained the goal of every modern photographer. To date, portrait photography techniques have been developed, perfected and patented that open up countless possibilities and creative solutions to achieve a unique result. In order to summarize the history and present of portrait photography, this thesis will explore various techniques and processing of portraits using a wide range of equipment and props and apply them to their own examples using the same model, showing through a series of photographs how one model can convey various information and how much it can be transformed through different techniques. Furthermore, world portrait photographers and their styles will be analyzed to point out the importance of developing a unique way of expressing yourself. The aim of the work is to create a series of completely different photographs but at the same time keep the cohesive look that arises from one's own stylistic expression. Photo processing will not serve to manipulate the physical appearance of the model in terms of 'beauty editing' but as a tool to help make each photo its unique work with a clear message and an obvious emphasis on the analyzed technique to be applied to a particular portrait.
