Abstract Društvene mreže postale su dio svakodnevnog života te su potaknule veliki broj istraživanja u kontekstu motivacija za korištenje, profila korisnika, ovisnosti i slično. Cilj ovog istraživanja je bio proučiti odnos osobina ličnosti, praćenja na društvenim mrežama, vremena i intenziteta korištenja društvenih mreža te spola. Ispitano je prosječno vrijeme koje sudionici dnevno provedu na društvenim mrežama te su korištene Ljestvica intenziteta korištenja društvenih mreža (Facebook intensity scale (Ellison, Steinfield i Lampe, 2007), Big five Inventar (The Big five Inventory (John, Donahue i Kentle, 1991) i Upitnik o praćenju na društvenim mrežama konstruiran u sklopu kolegija ''Procjene i mjerenje ličnosti'' na Hrvatskim studijima. Podaci su prikupljeni online anketom. Sudionici su bili studenti Sveučilišta u Zagrebu (N=219) od kojih je 39.3% bilo muškog spola. Osobe muškog i ženskog spola su se značajno razlikovale na rezultatima Ljestvice intenziteta korištenja društvenih mreža. Nisu pronađene statistički značajne razlike između spolova s obzirom na praćenje na društvenim mrežama. Vrijeme provedeno na društvenim mrežama je u pozitivnoj korelaciji s neuroticizmom,a negativno povezano sa savjesnosti. Dobivena je značajna pozitivna povezanost praćenja na društvenim mrežama s neuroticizmom i vremenom provedenim na društvenim mrežama te značajna negativna povezanost sa savjesnosti, otvorenosti i ugodnosti. Intenzitet korištenja društvenih mreža je u značajnoj korelaciji sa spolom, vremenom provedenim na društvenim mrežama te praćenjem. Neuroticizam, ugodnost, vrijeme i intenzitet korištenja društvenih mreža su dobri prediktori praćenja na društvenim mrežama i model je objasnio 38% varijance praćenja na društvenim mrežama.
Abstract (english) Social networking sites have become a part of everyday life and have sparked a large number of research in the context of motivation for use, user profiles, addiction and so on. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between personality traits, social network monitoring, time and intensity of social networks and gender differences. The following variables were examined: the daily time average participants spend on social networks, the Facebook intensity scale (Ellison, Steinfield and Lampe, 2007), Big Five Inventory (John, Donahue and Kentle, 1991) and the Social Network Monitoring/tracking Questionnaire developed within the course "Assessment and Personality Measurement" at the Croatian Studies was used. The data was collected by an online survey. Participants were students of the University of Zagreb (N=219), of whom 39.3 % were male. There was a significant difference beetween genders on the Facebook intensity scale. No gender differences were found on Social Network Monitoring/tracking Questionnaire. Time spent on social networks was positively correlated with neuroticism and negatively correlated to conscientiousness. Results show significant positive correlation between social network monitoring and neuroticism and with time spent on social networks and significant negative correlation with conscientiousness, openness and agreeableness. The intensity of using social networks is significantly correlated with gender, time spent on social networks and social network monitoring. Neuroticism, agreeableness, time and intensity of using social networks were significant predictors of social network tracking/monitoring explaining 38% variance of social network monitoring/tracking.
