Abstract Diplomski rad uz pomoć analize sadržaja proučava na koji način mediji, konkretno portali,
izvještavaju o temi iseljavanja stanovnika iz Republike Hrvatske te istražuje moguća kršenja
etičkih i profesionalnih načela prilikom izvještavanja. Osim toga, ovaj diplomski rad
problematizira i učestalost izvještavanja o temama koje su relevantne za hrvatsko stanovništvo.
Predmet istraživanja su problemi u izvještavanju o iseljavanju iz Republike Hrvatske iz
perspektive etičkih i profesionalnih načela novinarske profesije.
Glavni cilj ovog istraživanja je pokušati doći do zaključka na koji način su odabrani portali
pisali o temi iseljavanja iz Republike Hrvatske, dok je svrha ovog diplomskog rada ispitati jesu li
odabrani portali poštivali etička i profesionalna načela novinarske profesije te jesu li u javnost
plasirali narativ koji naginje određenoj strani, odnosno postoji li moguća percepcija utjecaja tih
portala na javno mnijenje.
Istraživačka metoda korištena za ovaj diplomski rad je kvalitativna i kvantitativna analiza
sadržaja, koja se u radu temelji na podacima dobivenim iz pregledavanja članaka. Najvažniji dio
rada su kvalitativni podaci koji daju odgovor na relevantna pitanja, a kvantitativni podaci su
korišteni kao sredstvo za dobivanje odgovora na kvalitativna pitanja.
Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da je sadržaj medijskih članaka većinom u skladu s
unaprijed postavljenim pretpostavkama te su istraživanjem ispunjeni svi postavljeni ciljevi rada.
Pokazalo se da su odabrani portali najvećim dijelom kršili načela nepristranosti, uravnoteženosti i
poštenja, dok senzacionalizam, suprotno očekivanjima, nije predstavljao veliki problem u
člancima odabranih portala. Izuzev navedenih problema, primijećeno je i rijetko te površno
objavljivanje o izuzetno važnoj temi za hrvatsku javnost.
Abstract (english) This master's thesis observes in which way the media, specifically media platforms, report on the topic of emigration from Republic of Croatia. Also, this master's thesis researches possible violations of ethical and professional principles in media reports using content analysis. Moreover, this master's thesis problematizes the frequency of reports regarding topics which are relevant for Croatian society.
The main research subjects are problems in media reports about emigration from Republic of Croatia, from the perspective of ethical and professional principles set up by journalism profession.
The main objective of this research is to try to come to the conclusion about in what way have the media platforms been reporting about the topic of emigration from the Republic of Croatia, while the purpose of this research is to investigate whether the chosen media platforms have respected ethical and professional principles of the journalism profession and have they placed biased narratives. In other words, the purpose of this research is to see if there is possible perception of influence on public opinion.
Research method used for this master's thesis is content analysis, which is based on the qualitative and quantitative data obtained by examining articles. The most important part of the research is qualitative data which gives an answer to relevant research questions, however, quantitative data is used as medium for getting the answers to those qualitative questions.
The results of the research show that the content of the media articles are, in the most part, in accordance with beforehand set up hypotheses and additionally, all of the research objectives were met. It appears that the most common problems in reporting of these media were biased reports, unbalanced reports and the absence of fairness and integrity, while sensationalism was not as big of a problem as it was expected to be. Apart from already mentioned problems, it was noticed that media platforms have not reported enough, nor have they reported seriously enough on the subject of this big of an importance to Croatian public.
