Abstract
Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je ispitati ulogu samopoštovanja, mračnih strana ličnosti i motiva za igranje online videoigara u problematičnom igranju online videoigara. Istraživanje je provedeno online te je u njemu sudjelovalo 239 igrača videoigara, građana Republike Hrvatske. Za operacionalizaciju konstrukata korišten je Upitnik problematičnog igranja online videoigara (POGQ), Upitnik motiva za igranje online videoigara (MOGQ), Rosenbergova skala samopoštovanja te Kratki upitnik mračne tetrade (SD4). Podaci su prikupljeni putem Google Obrasca koji je proslijeđen sudionicima preko društvene mreže Facebook, zatim putem Forum.hra te e-mailom. Rezultati ukazuju na to da su pojedinci nižeg samopoštovanja skloniji problematičnom igranju online videoigara. Nadalje, pojedinci koji su postigli viši rezultat na skali sadizma su bili i skloniji problematičnom igranju online videoigara. S druge strane, povezanosti problematičnog igranja online videoigara s preostalim mračnim stranama ličnosti (narcizam, makijavelizam i psihopatija) nisu bile statistički značajne. Posljednji konstrukt je vezan uz motive za igranje online videoigara. Rezultati ukazuju na to da su pojedinci koji igraju online videoigre zbog socijalizacije, zbog želje za kompetitivnošću i razvojem vještina, zbog mogućnosti ulaska u svijet mašte te kao oblik eskapizma i suočavanja s problemima nešto skloniji problematičnom igranju online videoigara. Preostali motiv rekreacije nije se pokazao kao statistički značajan korelat problematičnog igranja online videoigara. Korištenim setom prediktora može se objasniti 35,8% ukupne varijance problematičnog igranja online videoigara. Statistički značajni i relativno slabi prediktori u kontekstu motiva za igrom su bili motivi maštanja, suočavanja te razvoja vještina. Nadalje, iako je samopoštovanje imalo statistički značajnu i srednje visoku negativnu korelaciju s problematičnim igranjem online videoigara, u regresijskom modelu nije potvrđena statistička značajnost. U kontekstu mračne strane ličnosti, samo je narcizam potvrđen kao statistički značajan prediktor problematičnog igranja online videoigara.
Abstract (english)
The goal of this research was to examine the role of self-esteem, dark side of personality and motives for online gaming in problematic online gaming. The research was conducted online and had 239 participating gamers, citizens of Republic of Croatia. To operationalize constructs used in the research, a few questionnaires were used: Problematic online gaming questionnaire (POGQ), Motives for online gaming questionnaire (MOGQ), Rosenberg self-esteem scale and Short dark tetrad (SD4). Data was collected through Google Forms which was sent to the participants via Facebook, Forum.hr and by e-mail. The results indicate that the participants with lower self-esteem had a tendency towards problematic online gaming. Furthermore, participants who achieved a higher score on sadism scale also had a tendency towards problematic online gaming. On the other hand, correlations between problematic online gaming and the remaining dark sides of personality (narcissism, machiavellianism and psychopathy) were not statistically significant. The final construct were the motives for online gaming. The results indicate that the participants who play online games for socialization, for competition and skill development, to participate in a fantasy world and as a form of escapism and coping with problems have somewhat higher tendency towards problematic online gaming. Remaining motive of recreation was not a statistically significant correlate of problematic online gaming. With the used set of predictors, 35,8% of problematic online gaming variance was explained. When talking about motives for online gaming, statistically significant and relatively weak predictors of problematic online gaming were the motives of fantasy, coping and skill development. Moreover, even though self-esteem had a statistically significant and moderately high negative correlation with problematic online gaming, that statistical significance was not found in the regression model. In the context of dark sides of personality, only narcissism was found as a statistically significant predictor of problematic online gaming.
