Abstract
U radu smo prikazali prikazali povijesni razvoj Vjesnika, njegov složen medijski život i njegove uspone te padove od njegova osnutka 1940. do ukidanja 2012. godine. U prvome dijelu rada opisali smo početnu etapu razvoja Vjesnika kao glasila Komunističke partije Hrvatske u neoposrednom razdoblju nakon Drugoga svjetskog rata. Bilo je to vrijeme kada su partijski cenzori ne samo nadzirali, nego i izravno uređivali Vjesnik. U nastavku rada govorili smo o počecima liberalizacije i profesionalizacije Vjesnika tijekom kasnih pedesetih i šesdesetih godina 20. stoljeća. Bilo je to vrijeme kada je Vjesnik postao jedan od najutjecajnih i najuglednijih dnevnika u bivšoj Jugoslaviji s vrlo profesionalno ustrojenom redakcijom novinara i dopisnika iz cijelog svijeta. U radu smo također podrobnije opisali zbivanja u Vjesniku neposredno prije i tijekom sloma Hrvatskog proljeća kada je Vjesnik bio jedan od vodećih stjegonoša hrvatske nacionalne emancipacije u nekadašnjoj jugoslavenskoj federaciji. U završnom dijelu rada fokusirali smo se na život Vjesnika nakon uvođenja višestranačja u Hrvatskoj 1990. godine i stvaranja suvremene hrvatske države. Bilo je to možda najteže razdoblje tijekom Vjesnikova izlaženja koje, nažalost, nije uspio nadvladati.
Abstract (english)
In the paper, we presented the historical development of Vjesnik, its complex media life and its ups and downs from its founding in 1940 until its closure in 2012. In the first part of the paper, we described the initial stage of the development of Vjesnik as a newspaper of the Communist Party of Croatia in the immediate period after the Second World War. It was a time when party censors did not only supervise, but also directly edited Vjesnik. In the continuation of the work, we talked about the beginnings of liberalization and professionalization of Vjesnik during the late fifties and sixties of the 20th century. It was the time when Vjesnik became one of the most influential and respected dailies in the former Yugoslavia with a very professionally organized editorial staff of journalists and correspondents from all over the world. In the paper, we also described in more detail the events in Vjesnik immediately before and during the collapse of the Croatian Spring when Vjesnik was one of the leading flag bearers of Croatian national emancipation in the former Yugoslav federation. And in the final part of the paper, we focused on the life of Vjesnik after the introduction of multi-party system in Croatia in 1990 and the creation of the modern Croatian state. It was perhaps the most difficult stage during publishing period of Vjesnik, which, unfortunately, it was unable to overcome.
