Abstract
Društvena mreža Twitter bilježi sve veću popularnost kod korisnika diljem svijeta pa tako i u Hrvatskoj. Specifičnost ove mreže je što stvara zajednicu ljudi povezujući ih oko iste tematike te područja interesa. Upravo je zbog svoje strukture te većinom otvorenih profila ova društvena mreža pogodna za praćenje izvanrednih vijesti i novosti u stvarnom vremenu. Upravo su korisnici Twittera sve češće korišten uzorak pri istraživanju raznih događaja među kojima su i prirodne katastrofe. Upravo je jedna takva katastrofa pogodila područje Srbije, Bosne i Hercegovine te istočne Hrvatske u svibnju ove godine. Poplave nezapamćenih razmjera aktivirale su korisnike društvenih mreža na organizaciju prikupljanja pomoći te drugih volonterskih aktivnosti diljem cijele regije. Cilj ovog rada bio je analizirati kvantitativne podatke o broju tweetova koji su se odnosili na poplave tijekom svibnja i lipnja te analizirati najpopularnije tweetove odnosno korisnike.
Abstract (english)
In the recent years social network Twitter has gained popularity among users in Croatia and around the world. The distinctive characteristic of Twitter is that its users create a community based on the same area of interest and the same topics. Because of its structur and the profiles, which are usually public, Twitter is suitable for following breaking news and real-time news. This is the reason why Twitter users are often used a relevant sample in different research, including research on natural disasters. In May 2014 a natural disaster hit areas of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and eastern Croatia. Severe floods that hit these areas activated social network users to get involved in providing assistance and other volunteering activities across the region. The main goal of this thesis was to analyze quantitative data about the numbers of tweets which referred to floods and to analyze the most popular tweets, that is, the most popular users in May and June of 2014.
