Abstract Otkako je 2015. godine veliki val migranata i izbjeglica krenuo prema europskom kopnu, tema migracija zaokupila je politički i medijski svijet Europe.
Abstract (english) Ever since the great wave of migrants and refugees headed to the European mainland in 2015, the topic of migration has occupied the political and media world of Europe. Although migration processes over the last half century - without much debate - have shifted significantly towards European countries, recent developments have raised a number of issues of a social, political, economic, ethical and even religious nature. In this paper, we want to show how European society and the Catholic Church have faced the problem of migrants and refugees. In this paper entitled "Migration Crisis: A Challenge to Society and the Church", we explored how European society and the Catholic Church have faced the problem of North African and Asian migrants and refugees since the beginning of the so-called European migration crisis. This crisis stemmed from the failure of European policy to find an adequate and acceptable solution to the way migrants and refugees are accepted, as this problem has divided European society. An even greater challenge for European politics and society was to achieve unity among Europeans themselves, either within one nation or among the Member States of the European Union. The Catholic Church, as the "beacon" of society, sought to reconcile the polarization of society and politics by emphasizing the Christian and social task of helping migrants and refugees. On the other hand, the migration crisis showed a lack of understanding and living of evangelical demands among Christian believers, so the re-evangelization of the believers themselves was imposed on the Catholic Church as a challenge. The crisis itself is not negative, it has always been a challenge to humanity for progress. In a migration crisis, Europeans can overcome the crisis of their own identity and illuminate their future. Christians, on the other hand, can recognize the "sign of the times" in which God's inspiration encourages everyone to contribute, according to their calling, to building a world that is in accordance with God's plan.
