Abstract
Kukuruz (Zea mays L.) je jednogodišnja biljka iz porodice trava (Poaceae). Zbog svog potencijala rodnosti jedna je od najznačajnijih biljaka za prehrambenu industriju. Prisutnost teških metala u tlu jedan je od glavnih čimbenika oksidacijskog stresa u biljkama. U ovom radu istraživan je utjecaj kadmija na biokemijske pokazatelje stresa dvije linije kukuruza: 84-28A i OS 942 te njihovom hibrid OS 404. U tu su svrhu izmjereni enzimski (superoksid-dismutaza (SOD), gvajakol-peroksidaza (GPOD)) i neenzimski pokazatelji stresa (karotenoidi, klorofili te razina lipidne peroksidacije (TBARS)). Biljke su tretirane koncentracijama kadmija 150 μmol/L (Cd150) i 375 μmol/L (Cd375). Povećanje aktivnosti gvajakol peroksidaze uočeno je u linijama 84-28A i OS942 i njihovom hibridu OS 404 pri tretmanu s Cd150. Pad koncentracije klorofila prati pad koncentracije karotenoida. Sniženje koncentracije TBARS-a vdiljivo je u linijima OS 942 i OS 404 pri tretmanu kadmijem Cd150. Specifična aktivnost superoksid dismutaze nije pokazala značajne promjene u odnosu na kontrolne uzorke. Uočen je blagi pad aktivnosti SOD u liniji 84-28A pri tretmanu s Cd375. Dobiveni rezultati ukazuju da kadmij ima utjecaj na navedene biokemijske pokazatelje stresa kod kukuruza (Zea mays L.).
Abstract (english)
Maize (Zea mays L.) is an annual plant from the grass family (Poaceae). Due to its fertility potential, it is one of the most important plants for the food industry. The presence of heavy metals in the soil is one of the main factors of oxidative stress in plants. In this work, the influence of cadmium on biochemical stress indicators of two corn lines: 84-28A and OS 942 and their hybrid OS 404 was investigated. For this purpose, enzymatic (superoxide dismutase (SOD), guaiacol peroxidase (GPOD)) and non-enzymatic (carotenoids, chlorophylls and lipid peroxidation level (TBARS)) stress indicators were measured. The samples were treated with cadmium concentrations of 150 μmol/L (Cd150) and 375 μmol/L (Cd375). An increase in guaiacol peroxidase activity was observed in the lines 84-28A and OS942 and their hybrid OS 404 when treated with Cd150. The decrease in the concentration of carotenoids was observed in OS 942 and OS 404 when treated with Cd150. The specific activity of superoxide dismutase did not show any significant changes in comparison to control samples. A slight decrease in SOD activity was observed in line 84-28A upon treatment with Cd375. The obtained results indicate that cadmium has an impact on the mentioned biochemical stress indicators in corn (Zea mays L.).
