– 1955. godine.
Abstract (english) The aim of this graduate thesis is to explore, list and describe the results of all Croatian wrestlers in the period from 1896 to 1955 at the european and world championship and olympic games to give us a valuable insight into that period of history of Croatian wrestling. The existing literature is lacking record of wrestlers who have performed in some other ex-countries, satisfying one of the two or both criteria used by sport historians (Jajčević, 2007. Gizdić, 2013. i 2016.) according to whom we can declare them as Croatian wrestlers. The first criteria explains how the wrestler, at the time of performance at the grand competitions, has to be a member of a Croatian club, which is based somewhere in the territory of today's Republic of Croatia. The second criteria explains how the wrestler, also at the time of performance at the grand competitions, has to be born in the territory of today's Republic of Croatia. The problem of data dispersion is also noticed, so the goal is to gather them in one place. This graduate thesis records all competitors and their basic competitive references (name and surname, result, wrestling style, weight category, club registration). The formulation of the paper is based upon naming all the European and World championships and the Olympic games during the previously stated period alongside all the Croatian wrestlers who had performed at those competitions. The graduate thesis is conceived in such way that all the European and World championships, as well as Olympic games are listed in that period. Also, the place and state of holding thereof are listed. The record also contains the reference of the competitor; wrestling style and age of the competitor. This record and statistic is a contribution to history of wrestling in Croatia and wrestling athletes, who competed in the European and World Championships, as well as Olympic games. In the period between 1896 to 1955, 12 Olympic games were held, 7 official World championships, of which 5 were wrestled in greco-romanian style and 2 in freestyle, also 22 official European championships were held, of which 13 were wrestled in greco- romanian and 9 in freestyle. According to the criteria made by historians, 8 Croatian wrestlers in total performed at the previously stated competitions, of which Juraj Metzner placed the best. Following that, 2 Croatian wrestlers in total performed at the World championship of which Ladislav Bakšaj placed the best, whereas 7 Croatian wrestlers performed at the Olympic games, of which Nikola Grbić placed the best. The former states mentioned above did not have any representatives of freestyle wrestling in the period between 1896 to 1955.
