Međutim, razvojem skijaške tehnologije, skijaške cipele postaju sve napredniji i važniji dio skijaške opreme.
Abstract (english) Today, alpine skiing is a very popular winter sport, which is practiced by approximately 200 million active recreational skiers in the world. Ski boots along with skis are considered the basic ski equipment. Because the ski boots are attached to the skis with ski bindings, they transmit all the skiers’ movements to the skis and the snow surface. The transmission of movement is important because by constantly moving their bodies, skiers put a certain pressure on the inner parts of the ski boots and then the pressure is transmitted to the snow surface. In this way, the skier steers his skis and directs them in the desired direction. In the past, alpine skiers used ordinary winter boots that did not protect the skiers’ shins and feet and caused injuries when the skiers fell. However, with the development of ski technology, ski boots are becoming increasingly advanced and important part of ski equipment. Today, ski boots are better at protecting shins and feet from injuries and make skiing easier, thus contributing to a better overall experience of alpine skiing. Modern ski boots provide alpine skiers greater comfort and thermal protection during skiing, which is extremely important because they wear them for several hours during each ski day. Unfortunately, ski boots are not able to protect other parts of the body and today, the most common injury that befalls alpine skiers is a knee injury. In order for a ski boot to fulfil its duty, it must also be of the appropriate size. If properly selected, they allow skiers the complete experience and make skiing much easier. However, if the ski boot is too small, it leaves marks and blisters that make it difficult to continue using the skis. On the other hand, if the ski boot is too big, then the learning process is disrupted because it is not possible to steer the skis. In the case of poor selection of ski boots, it will be more difficult to learn specific ski movements and there is a higher probability of acquiring irregular movements, which will be very difficult to correct later.
