Abstract Cilj ovoga rada je istražiti prednosti i nedostatke skijanja na umjetnoj podlozi kroz proučavanje dostupne literature i kroz pregled dosadašnjih istraživanja.
Abstract (english) The aim of this work is to investigate the advantages and disadvantages of skiing on artificial surfaces through the study of available literature and through an overview of previous research. The very idea and need to build artificial ski surfaces is related to global warming and the weather conditions on the mountains in the winter months. Ski centers whit artificial surfaces are mostly opened in areas unfavorable for skiing, due to insufficient altitude, unfavourable climatic conditions, or a combination of the two cases. In the introductory part of the work, the most important information about the history of skiing and the history of skiing on artificial surfaces is presented. In the central part of the paper, the advantages and disadvantages of skiing on artificial surfaces are analyzed and compared with skiing on natural snow, from the surface itself, skiing to skiing techniques and the necessary equipment. Tha main and greatest advantage of artificial ski surfaces is the year-round availability and constant unchanged conditions. The centers for such skiing that exist in Croatia were also presented, currently there are only two of them, but it is assumed that there will be more newly opened in the next few years. Research was carried out at the Kecerin ski resort in Šestine and on the Ski track simulator at the Velesajam in Zagreb. In the final part of the paper, the most important manufacturers of equipment for skiing on artificial surfaces are listed and the conclusion is given.
