Fascija i fascijalni sustav obavljaju različite funkcije, a među njih ubrajamo i zaštitnu funkciju.
Abstract (english) Fascia is a type of connective tissue that stretches continuously like a network in the human body. Recent research highlights the complexity of the fascia and its role in the human locomotor system. In addition to the fact that the fascia performs a structural role (i.e., holds the structures together), it also participates in the transmission of the force and allows muscle fibres to slide over each other because the fascia can be placed in several directions. The main goal of this thesis is to provide a more comprehensive insight into the fascial system of the human body. The nomenclature of the fascia changed throughout the years and it is necessary to determine its exact definition and what it includes, both in anatomical and functional terms. The classification of the fascial system in the human body can be defined in several ways while its innervation is caused by specialised receptors. Each fascial receptor is sensitive to a particular type of stimulus. The fascia and the fascial system perform different functions, and among them is the protective function. For the human body to function normally, it is extremely important to understand the important role of the fascia.
