This paper analyses the compliance and persistence of conservative treatment of idiopathic adolescent scolioses during kinesitherapy. Thirty patients were analysed, 13 being boys and 17 girls, all of them included in the research based on radiological tests and clinical examination within the Medical Center of Faktor zdravlje in Zagreb as well as the private practice for physical medicine owned by dr Šime Mijić in Jastrebarsko. Kinesitherapeutic protocol was implemented with a purpose of slowing down scoliosis from advancement as well as improving general fitness, cardiopulmonary function and the psycho-social component. Besides, adherence, compliance, persistence and cooperativeness with the given rules were subanalysed. The data analysis has proved that 43.33% did not continually implement kinesitherapy whereas 93.33% of the patients did not even appear for the control check-ups, i.e. the final evaluation. The results obtained indicate that in spite of meeting the inclusion criteria for idiopathic adolescent scoliosis, there is a high degree of noncooperativeness in the implementation of the kinesitherapy programme and monitoring of the patient. Continuous exercise and monitoring are of a crucial importance so as to single out the patients at increased risk for the advancement of idiopathic scoliosis and possibly other comorbidities, especially in those requiring orthotic therapy or surgical treatment.
