Abstract Australski nogomet sport je u kojem je zbog svojih specifičnih elemenata i struktura izrazito opterećen lokomotorni sustav igrača. Specifičnosti igre donose brojne ozljede gornjih, a posebice donjih ekstremiteta.
Abstract (english) Australian football is a sport in which, due to the specificity of the elements and structures, locomotor system of players is extremely under pressure. The specificity of the game in this sport brings variety of injuries to the upper, and especially to the lower extremities. In order to reduce the number of injuries, it is necessary to concentrate on prevention. The purpose of this thesis is to introduce the specificity and variety of movement in the Australian football, to indicate the types and ways of injury and to emphasize the importance of the injury prevention which can be realized through planned and programmed implementation of individual training programs that can target the specific needs of players. This thesis describes the variety of locomotor system injuries that occur due to specific movements, jumps, strikes or lack of suitable protective equipment. In order to minimize the risk of injuries, diagnostic procedures and corrective exercises should be carried out during the training process so that the players can prepare their locomotor system in a quality and functional manner for the efforts of the training process and competition. When it comes to professional Australian football career, injuries can lead to the elimination of players from training, match, season and even to career breakouts. All of the above emphasize the importance of preventive programs that should be a part of every training cycle, especially in younger age when the best players are "created" and on amateur level where players don’t have the opportunity for a rehabilitation and prevention treatment like Australian Football League professional players do.
