Abstract
Upotreba propolisa kao smole ljekovitih svojstava poznata je još od pradavnih vremena. Propolis je smolasta smjesa koju pčele prikupljaju sa pupoljaka stabala ili kore različitih drveća te koriste u košnici. Sastoji se od oko 50% balzama i smola (flavonoidi i ostali fenolni spojevi), 30% pčelinjeg voska, 10% isparljivih spojeva, 5% peludi i 5% različitih organskih komponenti i minerala. Propolis se ne može koristiti kao sirovi materijal, već se treba pročistiti ekstrakcijom s otapalima. Dokazana su mnoga biološka djelovanja propolisa: antibakterijsko, antivirusno, antigljivično, antiparazitno, antioksidacijsko, imunostimulirajuće, antitumorsko, zacjeljujuće, protuupalno, hepatoprotektivno, antiulcerozno, antihipertenzivno, anestetsko, hipoglikemijsko i dr. Najvažnije farmakološki aktivne komponente propolisa su flavonoidi, različiti fenoli te isparljivi spojevi. propolis, flavonoidi, fenoli, antimikrobna aktivnost
Abstract (english)
The use of propolis as a resin with curative properties is known from ancient times. Propolis is a resinous substance collected by honeybees from leaf buds and bark of various plants and used in the hive. It is composed of 50% resin (composed of flavonoids and other phenolic compounds), 30% wax, 10% volatiles, 5% pollen and 5% various organic compounds and minerals. Propolis cannot be used as raw material, it must be purified by extraction with solvents. Many biological activities of propolis have been reported: antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antiprotozoan, antioxidant, immunostimulating, antitumor, tissue regenerative, anti- inflammatory, hepatoprotective, antiulcer, antihypertensive, anesthetic, hypoglycemic, etc. The most important pharmacologically active constituents in propolis are flavonoids, various phenolics and volatiles.
