Abstract
Nobelovu nagradu utemeljio je švedski industrijalac i izumitelj Alfred Nobel 1901. godine. Dodjeljuje se u područjima fizike, kemije, medicine ili fiziologije, knjiţevnosti i za mir. Naknadno je 1968. godine utemeljena Nagrada za ekonomiju koja se isplaćuje iz posebnog fonda Švedske središnje banke, a koja je tematski obrađena u zasebnom odjeljku. Hrvatski dobitnici Nobelove nagrade su Lavoslav Ružička 1939. za kemiju, kao i Vladimir Prelog iz istog područja 1975. U radu se pridaje pozornost i... More Ivi Andriću unatoč činjenici da je njegova nacionalna pripadnost podijeljena između bosanske, hrvatske, srpske, ali i čistog kozmopolitizma. Poseban dio rada odnosi se na dvije kontroverzne nagrade, one za mir i za književnost. Za razliku od nagrada u području prirodnih znanosti, u ovim se kategorijama stvaraju politički odjeci koji utječu na vjerodostojnost i utemeljenost odluka Odbora za dodjelu nagrada. Poteže se i pitanje sljedivosti testamenta Alfreda Nobela u kojem se za područje književnosti traži najznačajnije djelo u protekloj godini bez obzira na nacionalnu, jezičnu ili vjersku pripadnost autora, a praksa pokazuje da je riječ o nagradi koja se transformirala u svojevrsni sud o kanonu. Zaključuje se kako je Nobelova nagrada plemenito zamišljena inicijativa koja je u svojem djelovanju potaknula niz izvrsnih znanstvenika, književnika, ali i običnih ljudi koji su svojim stvaralaštvom doprinjeli razvoju čovječanstva i stvaranju boljeg i kvalitetnijeg društva unatoč određenim manjkavostima. Abstract (english)
The Nobel Prize was founded by the Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel in 1901. It is being awarded in the fields of physics, chemistry, medicine or physiology, literature and peace. Subsequently, in 1968, a prize for the economy was founded, which is being paid out of a special fund of the Swedish Central Bank. This will be discussed in a separate section of this paper. The Nobel Prize winners from Croatia were Lavoslav Ruţička in 1939 and Vladimir Prelog in 1975, both in the... More field of chemistry. This paper will also draw attention to Ivo Andrić, despite the fact that his national affiliation is on one hand divided between Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian and on the other hand borders with pure cosmopolitanism. Part of the paper will also discuss two controversial awards, those for peace and literature. Unlike other prizes in the field of natural sciences, these categories create political repercussions that affect the credibility of the decisions which are made by the prize-awarding body. Here arises the question of Alfred Nobel's intent, stated in his testament, to award the most important literary work in the last year, regardless of the national, linguistic or religious affiliation of the author. However, the award practice shows that this prize has been transformed, to a degree, into a judgement on the quality of the author’s literary canon. In the end it can be concluded that, in spite of certain weaknesses, the Nobel Prize is a noble initiative that inspired a great number of outstanding scholars, writers and ordinary people who have contributed to the development of humanity and to the creation of a better society.
