Abstract
U ovom radu objašnjeno je što su geoprostorne baze podataka, opisana su njihova svojstva i navedena je njihova upotreba. Također detaljno je opisano što su geoprostorni podaci i geoprostorno indeksiranje. Kako bi se bolje razumjele geoprostorne baze podataka, objašnjene su baze podataka i geografski informacijski sustavi te njihova primjena. Kao najčešće korišten alat za rad s geoprostornim bazama podataka, detaljno je objašnjen PostGIS, tj. proširenje PostgreSQL baze podataka. U zadnjem dijelu rada prikazana je primjena geoprostorne baze podataka i opisano je kako pronaći najbližu zdravstvenu ustanovu od dane lokacije te kako pronaći sve zdravstvene ustanove unutar danog radijusa.
Abstract (english)
This work explains what spatial databases are, describes their features, and lists their uses. It also describes in detail what spatial data and spatial indexing are. Also, to understand spatial databases better, it explains what databases and geographic information systems are. As the most used tool for working with spatial databases, this work explains PostGIS, an extension for PostgreSQL databases. The last part of this paper explains spatial database application and describes how to find the closest health institution from the given location and how to find all health institutions in a given radius.
