Abstract
Atipična orofacijalna bol predstavlja ozbiljno zdravstveno stanje koje negativno utječe na kvalitetu života. Nedostatak jasne kliničke slike na žalost često dovodi do neprepoznavanja stanja te se pacijent u pokušajima da mu se pomogne podvrguje nepotrebnim i štetnim zahvatima koji dodatno narušavaju stanje pacijenta, opterećuju zdravstveni sustav te predstavljaju izvor frustracije za liječnika. Doktor dentalne medicine je često prvi u nizu doktora kod kojih pacijent dođe te je na njemu velika odgovornost da se ne upušta olako u nepotrebne stomatološke tretmane te da uputi pacijenta na daljnje dijagnostičke pretrage. Dijagnoza se postavlja nakon iscrpne diferencijalne dijagnostike procesom eliminacije. Terapija primarno uključuje farmakološku terapiju tricikličkim antidepresivima uz kognitivno bihevioralnu terapiju kako bi se pacijenta pokušalo osloboditi boli te mu se omogućila bolja kvaliteta života.
Abstract (english)
Atypical orofacial pain is a serious medical condition that has a very negative impact on the quality of life. A lack of a clear clinical image regretfully often means that the condition stays unrecognised. Usually, the patient undergoes a number of unnecesarry treatments which further aggravate the condition and further degrade the patients' quality of life, burdens the healthcare system and is very frustrating for the therapist. Dental practicioner is often the very first that the patient comes to for help and carries the responsability to be wary of unnecessary treatments and, when necessary, advise further analysis. An atypical orofacial pain diagnosis can only be made after extensive differential analysis through elimination. A common therapy s primarly pharmacological, using tricyclic antideppressants, paired with cognitive-bihevioural therapy sessions so the patient could be free of pain and to improve the quality of life.
