Abstract Virusne osipne bolesti u djece uobičajena su pojava u djetinjstvu i razlog su velikog broja posjeta pacijenata liječnicima. Klasične virusne osipne bolesti, poput ospica, rubeole, vodenih kozica, infektivnog eritema i exanthema subitum, imaju poznatu i utvrđenu etiologiju, dok kod ostalih bolesti etiologija nije u potpunosti jasna.
Abstract (english) Viral rashes are the cause of many visits to the doctor in childhood. They are common, but benign and self – limiting. The diagnosis of some diseases can be confirmed based on characteristic morfology, but for some rashes additional diagnostic methods may be necessary. It is important to carefully examine the patient, inquire about the family medical history and look for specific clinical characteristics. Epidemiological history of disease and patient's vaccination status are also very important. Some clinical features such as the form, size and distribution of the rash can be useful in confirming the diagnosis. Etiological diagnosis is usually set up using direct and indirect methods, such as isolation of viruses, molecular and serological methods. Skin biopsy with pathohistological analysis is not commonly used in these conditions, but it can be performed when necessary. All of these methods, including primarly the medical history and clinical findings are important because the differential diagnosis of these diseases may include different life – threating complications. Classical viral rashes such as measles, rubella, chickenpox, infectious erythema and exanthema subitum have established etiology, while the exact causing agent of most the other viral rashes may remain unknown. Most of these conditions are treated symptomatically, although additional therapy can be given if needed, depending on the cause and the onset of complications.
