Abstract
Strah od stomatološkog liječenja je posebno psihičko stanje. Sa psihološkog gledišta ubraja se u skupinu anksioznih poremećaja. U većini slučajeva strah je razlog neredovite posjete stomatološkoj ordinaciji. Stoga se pacijenti javljaju liječnicima u trenutcima neizdržive boli ili traume što može prouzročiti još veći strah. Dentalni strah može ometati provedbu terapijskih postupaka. Za razumijevanje dentalnog straha potrebno je poznavati čimbenike koji ga uzrokuju te ga razlikovati od dentalne anksioznosti i dentalne fobije. Prisutnost i intenzitet dentalnog straha se može mjeriti. Postoje razne vrste jednostavnih skala i tehnika koje ne oduzimaju previše vremena, a pomažu liječniku u svakodnevnom radu. Prilikom prve posjete, osobito kod djece, važno je provesti preventivne mjere. Kada strah već ovlada osobom, nizom tehnika se pokušava umanjiti ili u potpunosti suzbiti. Sedacija je krajnja metoda savladavanja dentalnog straha
Abstract (english)
Dental fear is a particular psychological condition. From a psychological point of view, it is considered to be a part of group of anxiety disorders. In most cases, fear is the reason for an irregular visit to the dental office. Therefore, patients report to doctor in moments of unbearable pain or trauma, which can cause even greater fear. Dental fear can interfere with the implementation of therapeutic procedures. To understand dental fear, one must know the factors that cause it and distinguish it from dental anxiety and dental phobia. The presence and intensity of dental fear can be measured. There are various types of simple scales and techniques that do not take too much time and help the doctor in his daily work. During the first visit, it is important to take preventative measures, especially with children. When fear has already taken hold of a person, there are a number of techniques try to reduce or completely suppress it. Sedation is the ultimate method of overcoming dental fear.
