Abstract
Suicid, ili samoubojstvo, je radnja ili čin svjesnog i namjernog oduzimanja vlastitog života, a tu su blisko povezani i pojmovi suicidalnost i parasuicid. Suicidalnost je želja ili potreba osobe da počini suicid, dok je parasuicid pokušaj suicida u kojem nije postojala prava želja da se on i izvrši, to je neverbalni pokušaj za komunikacijom i prenošenje neke poruke okolini. Mnogostruki su faktori koji povisuju rizik za suicidom, kao što su psihijatrijski poremećaji, zlouporaba droga, razne kulturološke i sociološke situacije, zlostavljanje, čak se smatra da i geni nose određenu ulogu. U zadnje vrijeme se ne smije zaboraviti na medije koji imaju veliki utjecaj na mlađe generacije. Ratni veterani su također ugrožena skupina, zbog veće stope mentalnih poremećaja, kao što je PTSP. (17) Rat je najveća pošast koja može pogoditi ljudski rod, u njemu nema pobjednika. Zasigurno rat pridonosi većoj stopi pokušaja suicida, a samim time i izvršenja. Kako je dostupnost vatrenog oružja u ratno doba značajno veća, tako je i stopa suicida vatrenim oružjem uvećana. U Primorsko- goranskoj županiji suicid vatrenim oružjem je izvršilo 172 ljudi u razdoblju od 1982. do 2005. godine.
Abstract (english)
Suicide is an act of conscious and deliberate ending of own life. Terms suicidality and parasuicide are closely related. Suicidality is a desire or need of a person to commit suicide, while parasuicide refers to attempt in which there was no real desire of executing, it is nonverbal communication attmept to transfer a message. Factors that affect the risk of suicide includedrug misuse, psychiatric disorders, cultural and social situations, abuse, family and social situations, and genetics. Media most not be forgotten as big influence on younger generations. War veterans have a higher risk of suicide due in part to higher rates of mental illness and physical health problems related to war. War is greatest evil that can strike human kind, in which there are no winners. Certainly war contributes to higher rate of suicide attempts, including successful executions. Availibility of firearms is significantly greater in wartime, so is the rate of firearm suicides. In Primorsko- goranska county suicide was commited by 175 people between 1982. and 2005.
