Abstract (english) Digital dementia is a phrase that brings together a number of symptoms and signs which indicate deficits in cognitive functions similar to those in dementia, and occur due to excessive and inadequate use of digital technologies such as mobile phones, tablets and computers, etc. The aim of this paper is to present the impact of digital technologies on children's cognitive development and mental health of adults by reviewing the available research literature. Numerous studies indicate negative changes associated with digital technologies that, unlike dementia, are registered from an early age in terms of negative impact on attention and the learning process. In adulthood, they can be the cause of a number of disorders such as a decline of attention and memory, emotional numbness and lack of empathy, social isolation, lack of sleep and inability to maintain concentration. Today, the psychiatric profession encounters new forms of neuropsychiatric disorders of all ages, and whose diagnostic criteria have not yet been defined in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) and The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V). As mental disorders associated with digital technologies are on the rise, the duty of psychiatry, as a medical field, is to sensitize, recognize symptoms in a timely manner, and provide adequate care.
