Endohepatology is a relatively new branch of hepatology that combines ultrasound and endoscopic modalities to enhance the diagnosis and treatment of various liver diseases. It allows physicians to utilize minimally invasive techniques that offer greater precision compared to traditional methods. The integration of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is particularly notable, as it has significantly expanded the possibilities for diagnosing and treating liver pathologies. The clinical applications of EUS in liver diseases, including portal hypertension, liver tumours, and chronic liver diseases, underscore its important role in providing more accurate assessments and enabling targeted therapeutic interventions. This approach can significantly improve treatment outcomes by reducing the need for invasive procedures, thus lowering risks for patients and accelerating their recovery. EUS also offers the advantage of combining diagnosis and therapy in a single procedure, further enhancing its effectiveness and utility in clinical practice. Although significant progress has been made, there are still remaining challenges that limit the wider acceptance. Among the main challenges are the high costs of the necessary equipment, the need for specialized training of medical staff, and the limited availability of equipment in less developed healthcare institutions. However, endohepatology is expected to play an increasingly important role in clinical practice, especially in complex cases of liver diseases where conventional approaches aren't sufficiently effective.
