This paper deals with a review of the quality of life in patients with myasthenia gravis. Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disease, and the most common symptoms are muscular weakness and fatigue. The disease is caused by antibodies against the receptors in the neuromuscular junction. Myasthenia gravis can be classified into groups depending on the antibodies and the clinical picture. Prognosis and treatment differ among groups. Clinical tests, electrophysiological tests, and medications are used to diagnose myasthenia gravis. The treatment is adapted to each patient individually, and the treatment options are acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, immunosuppressive therapy, thymectomy, plasmapheresis and immunoglobulin. There is no agreed upon definition of quality of life, but it is usually defined as a combination of objective and subjective parameters. Numerous instruments are used to assess the quality of life, some of which are general and some are related to a particular disease. There are some general and some specialized instruments used to evaluate the quality of life in myasthenia gravis. In order to establish the quality of life in patients with myasthenia gravis, 12 scientific papers have been analyzed. Each paper has tackled the issue from different aspects. Regardless of the methods of investigation it can be concluded that there is a decrease in the quality of life in patients with myasthenia gravis and that the reduction is related to the severity of the disease.
