Abstract
Mitohondriji su stanični generatori energije u obliku ATP-a, čiji je pravilan rad važan za odvijanje brojnih staničnih funkcija. Pojam mitofagija odnosi se na selektivni proces autofagije mitohondrija. Proces mitofagije je presudan za preživljavanje stanice jer disfunkcionalni mitohondriji stvaraju reaktivne kisikove spojeve (engl. reactive oxygen species, ROS) ili direktno izazivaju apoptozu. U središnjem dijelu ovog preglednog rada objašnjeni su osnovni mehanizmi mitofagije, kao i uloga mitofagije u nastanku i razvoju infarkta miokarda, ishemijsko-reperfuzijske ozljede srca te zatajenju srca.
Abstract (english)
Mitochondria generate cellular energy in the form of ATP, and their proper functioning is important for many cellular functions. The term mitophagy refers to a selective autophagy of mitochondrium. The mitophagy process is critical to cell survival because dysfunctional mitochondria generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) or even induce apoptosis. In the central part of this review basic mechanisms of mitophagy are explained, as well as the role of mitophagy in initiation and development of myocardial infarction, ischemic-reperfusion injury and heart failure.
