Abstract
Sindrom karpalnog kanala (ili tunela) vrlo je često stanje koje pogađa uglavnom žensku populaciju u dobi između 30 i 50 godina. U početku pacijenti osjećaju utrnulost, trnce i slabost šake. Ako se u ovoj fazi ne liječi, može postati veliki izvor boli, nelagode i dovesti do trajnoga neurološkoga oštećenja. Uzrok ove bolesti je kompresija n. medianusa. Neki su slučajevi povezani s ponavljanim pokretima fleksije i ekstenzije u zglobu zapešća koji se nužno izvode u određenim profesijama, ali većina ih je idiopatska. Napredovanjem tehnologije i farmakologije dolaze i novi načini liječenja ove bolesti. Cilj je ovog rada pružiti strukturirani pregled ove bolesti, kao i pregled dijagnostičkih i metoda liječenja utemeljenih na dokazima koje mogu pomoći pri prevenciji, izlječenju ili ublažavanju boli uzrokovane sindromom karpalnog kanala.
Abstract (english)
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a very common condition that affects mostly female patients between the ages of 30 and 50 years old. In the beginning, patients feel numbness, tingling and weakness of the hand. If left untreated at this stage, it can become a great source of pain, discomfort and lead to permanent nerve damage. The cause of this illness is the compression of the median nerve. Some cases are associated with repeated movements of flexion and extension in the wrist joint that are necessarily executed in certain professions, but most of them are idiopathic. With the advancement in technology and pharmaceutics new ways of handling this disease are developing. The aim of this thesis is to provide a structured overview of this disease, as well as an overview of evidence-based diagnostic and treatment methods that can help in preventing, curing, or alleviating the pain caused by carpal tunnel syndrome.
