Prostate cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of death among men in Croatia, and in the world it ranks second in terms of frequency and fifth in terms of mortality. Prostate cancer is a disease of older men with an average age at diagnosis of 65 years. The vast majority of patients with early-stage prostate cancer are asymptomatic or the signs are nonspecific because the cancer is most often localized in the peripheral zone of the prostate. The presence of symptoms usually indicates locally advanced or metastatic disease. Owing to the widespread practice of testing serum concentrations of prostate-specific antigen and subsequent biopsy, prostate disease is often diagnosed at an early clinical stage. Thanks to the development of technology, the use of robotic systems in surgery is increasing, especially in urology where robot-assisted radical prostatectomy is on its way to becoming the gold standard in the treatment of localized prostate cancer. From November 2019 to February 2021, 90 patients were operated using the Senhance robotic system at the Clinic of Urology of the University Hospital Center Zagreb (80 of whom had suitable video material), for whom data were recorded with the aim of analyzing the learning curve. Also, to compare the progress, patients were divided into two groups and a statistical analysis of the collected data was performed. Rapid progress was noted in performing operations with a statistically significant reduction in the duration of surgery and estimated blood loss between the two groups of subjects. The values obtained in this study are similar to those obtained in other world centers where the number of robotic assisted radical prostatectomies performed with the other robotic system is significantly higher, however more acquisition of experience is needed to analyse a learning curve plateau and optimal results.
