Abstract
Uvod: Ulaskom u EU Hrvatska se obvezala provoditi odredbe Direktive 2005/36 EK što je dovelo do velikih promjena u sustavu obrazovanja primalja. Kompetencije koje takvim obrazovanjem stječu prvostupnice primaljstva uključuju utvrđivanje trudnoće, vođenje fiziološke trudnoće i porođaja, no u praksi primalje u Hrvatskoj i dalje ne ostvaruju profesionalnu autonomiju. Ciljevi: Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je utvrditi stavove studenata primaljstva o profesionalnoj autonomiji primalja te ispitati razlikuju li se ti stavovi s obzirom na studij kojeg studenti pohađaju, godinu studija, prethodno završeno srednjoškolsko obrazovanje te radno iskustvo u primaljstvu. Metode i ispitanici: Istraživanje je provedeno na redovitim studentima primaljstva svih godina oba studijska programa u Hrvatskoj. Korišten je upitnik koji je sadržavao pitanja o profesionalnoj autonomiji primalja kao i opće podatke o studentima te koji je izrađen posebno za ovo istraživanje. Rezultati: Studenti primaljstava izrazili su pozitivne stavove prema profesionalnoj autonomiji primalja, no postojale su razlike. Među područjima autonomije koja proizlaze iz kompetencija, studenti primaljstva najpozitivniji stav izrazili su prema samostalnom vođenju fiziološkog porođaja, dok su najmanje pozitivan stav izrazili prema utvrđivanju trudnoće. Najnegativniji stav izrazili su prema porođajima kod kuće. Studenti stručnog studija imali su pozitivnije stavove od studenata sveučilišnog studija. Studenti treće godine imali su negativnije stavove od studenata prve i druge godine. Studenti s prethodnim radnim iskustvom imali su negativnije stavove od onih bez radnog iskustva. Zaključak: Hipoteza da će studenti primaljstva imati pozitivan stav prema profesionalnoj autonomiji potvrđena je, no zabrinjava činjenica da se određen broj studenata ne slaže s kompetencijama koje će kao prvostupnice primaljstva imati. Prepoznata su područja autonomije s kojima se studenti u manjoj mjeri slažu što daje vrijedan uvid u mogućnosti poboljšanja obrazovanja s ciljem osposobljavanja i osnaživanja primalja koje će pružati skrb u punom rasponu svojih kompetencija.
Abstract (english)
Background: By joining the EU Croatia agreed to comply with Directive 2005/36 EC which regulates midwifery. This lead to major changes in midwifery education. Competencies which midwives with a bachelor’s degree in midwifery have include diagnosing and monitoring physiological pregnancy and conducting delivery; in reality, Croatian midwives still don’t practice with professional autonomy. Aims: The aim of this study was to determine midwifery students’ attitudes toward the professional autonomy of midwives and to investigate whether those attitudes differ depending on their programme, year of study, type of high school education and work experience in midwifery. Methods and participants: This research involved midwifery students from both midwifery programmes in Croatia. The questionnaire was designed for purpose of this research and consisted of questions regarding professional autonomy as well as general questions. Results: Midwifery students have positive attitudes toward professional autonomy with important differences. In the area of autonomy defined by competencies, students were most positive about conducting physiological births, and least positive about diagnosing pregnancy. Students had the most negative attitude toward home birth. Students of the professional programme had more positive attitudes then students of the university programme. Third year students had more negative attitudes than first- and second-year students. Students with work experience in midwifery had more negative attitudes. Conclusion: The hypothesis that midwifery students will have a positive attitude towards professional autonomy was proven, but its concerning that some of them disagreed with their future competencies. Areas of autonomy with which students showed least agreement were identified which gives us a valuable insight in opportunity to improve midwifery education with goal of training and empowering midwives that will practice within the full scope of their competencies.
