Abstract
U posljednjih 40 godina u svijetu se 6 puta povećao broj potresa. Razorni potresi jačine 5.5 i 6.2 po Richterovoj ljestvici pogodili su Hrvatsku 2020. godine tijekom teške pandemijske godine. Naše iskustvo poslužilo nam je kao početna motivacija za proučavanje raznih kliničkih ishoda nakon potresa. Prethodna istraživanja su pokazala povećane stope suicidalnih misli, pojačanu sklonost PTSP-u i depresivnu simptomatologiju nakon potresa. Stoga bi vodeće institucije sustavno trebale unaprijed pripremiti i provesti planove za očuvanje mentalnog zdravlja tijekom potresa. Poznato je da se broj pacijenata s ulkusom želuca i duodenuma povećao kao posljedica potresa, a ostali gastrointestinalni simptomi bili su bol u trbuhu, distenzija i zatvor. Potresi su dobar primjer kako akutni stres može potaknuti kardiovaskularne događaje, uglavnom kroz aktivaciju simpatičkog živčanog sustava. Dosadašnja istraživanja otkrila su povećanu učestalost akutnog infarkta miokarda, moždanog udara, aritmija i Takotsubo kardiomiopatije. Ovaj pregled podsjeća na važnost prepoznavanja i liječenja psihičkih i psihosomatskih posljedica potresa.
Abstract (english)
In the last 40 years there has been a 6-fold increase in the number of earthquakes worldwide. Devastating earthquakes, 5.5 and 6.2 on the Richter scale hit Croatia in 2020 during the brutal pandemic year. Our experience served us as our initial motivation for finding out all clinical outcomes after an earthquake. Previous research has shown increased rates of suicidal thoughts, susceptibility to PTSD and depressive symptomatology. Mental health action plans should be encouraged and well prepared in advance by leading organizations. Studies conducted to date have found that the number of patients with gastric and duodenal ulcers increased as an earthquake aftermath. Other gastrointestinal symptoms were abdominal pain, distension and constipation. Earthquakes provide a good example of how acute stress can trigger cardiovascular events, predominantly through sympathetic nervous activation. Studies conducted to date have found an increased incidence of acute myocardial infarction, stroke, arrhythmias and Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. This review reminds us of the importance of treating psychological and psychosomatic consequences of earthquakes.
