The goal is to improve the quality of life for patients and ensure that patients battling cancer derive the greatest possible benefits from tumor treatment. Supportive care encompasses a comprehensive approach that includes various treatment methods aimed at mitigating symptoms that arise as a result of specific oncological therapies for cancer or the progression of the disease itself. The priorities of supportive therapy are treatment and alleviation of pain, nausea and vomiting (also called emesis), prevention of anorexia and cachexia, and management of complications such as neutropenia and anemia. The purpose of supportive therapy is to enhance the highest possible quality of life and ensure the return of basic life functions, while respecting individual, cultural, religious and ethnic values. One of the most important goals of supportive therapy is the treatment of pain. It is essential to identify the pain and its cause, and to help the patient in his physical and mental state by relieving the pain. Monitoring physical nutrition allows us to identify patients with a higher risk of developing cachexia and ensure adequate calorie intake for these patients in a timely manner. The occurrence of emesis can cause additional difficulties such as cachexia and anorexia, which significantly impairs the quality of life of patients and their families. Therefore, it is important to take effective preventive measures to reduce nausea and vomiting. Anemia negatively affects the quality of life of patients, and the consequences for the whole body are profound. Hence, it is necessary to prevent in time.
