Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of treatment and the quality of life of patients on specific prophylactic migraine therapy. Study Design: Cross-sectional study Patients and Methods: The study included 30 participants suffering from migraine headaches who were treated with monoclonal antibodies to CGRP or the CGRP receptor at the Headache Clinic of the University Hospital Centre Osijek's Neurology Department. An anonymous questionnaire structured for this research and standardized questionnaires HIT-6 and SF-36 were used as research instruments. Results: 26 (87%) women and 4 (13%) men participated in the study. Before the introduction of monoclonal antibody therapy, 13 (43 %) participants had headaches 8 to 14 times a month, and 8 (27 %) had headaches 15 or more times a month. After the introduction of the therapy, 4 (13 %) participants had headaches 7 or more times a month, the same number did not have headaches for a period longer than several months, and 1 (3 %) stated that he had not had a headache for a period longer than a year. Self-assessed quality of life after the introduction of therapy is significantly better than before therapy (P < 0.001). Considering the values of the HIT-6 scale, 15 (50 %) subjects have a serious impact of headache on their life, and these subjects have the greatest limitation of the quality of life in the components related to mental health and limitations in physical activities, which were assessed using the SF-36 questionnaire. Conclusion: Prophylactic therapy with monoclonal antibodies to CGRP/CGRP receptor significantly reduces the frequency of migraine attacks in most patients, and the quality of life of patients is better than before taking prophylactic therapy.
