Abstract Cilj istraživanja: Standardiziranim mjerenjem određenih područja trbušne aorte s pomoću
kompjutorizirane tomografije želimo vidjeti postoje li morfološke razlike aorte ovisno o dobi,
spolu, visini, masi i postoji li razlika u mijenjanju morfoloških značajki u gornjem i donjem
Glavne mjere ishoda: Promjeri i duljine trbušne aorte u određenim područjima mjerenja.
(r=0,58; P=0,704). Muškarci imaju dulju (F=6,6; P=0,014) i širu trbušnu aortu u odnosu na
žene: najširi infrarenalni promjer je veći u muškaraca nego u žena (F=15; P<0,001) . Indeks
tjelesne mase nije povezan s promjerom i duljinom trbušne aorte (r=0,05; P=0,748). Nismo
dokazali značajne razlike u povećanju promjera s dobi između gornjeg (područje izlazišta
velikih visceralnih ogranaka) i donjeg, infrarenalnog dijela trbušne aorte: promjer aorte uz
ispitanika.
Abstract (english) Objective: To examine the relationship between morphological characteristics of the
abdominal aorta and age, sex, body height and weight by using standardized measurement of
clearly defined anatomic areas of the abdominal aorta on computed tomography. We tested
our hypotesis that due to different hystological morphology between the upper and the
infrarenal part of the abodminal aorta. There are also age related differences in dilation
between these two distinct anatomical areas of the abodminal aorta.
Design: Cross-sectional study.
Settings: The study was performed in Clinical Unit of Diagnostic and Interventional
Radiology University Hospital of Split.
Participants: The study included 46 participants older than twenty years who underwent
computed tomography of the abdomen between 1 February and 30 April 2012.
Main outcome measures: Diameters and lengths of the abdominal aorta in a clearly defined
areas of measurements.
Results: Men have larger (F=6,6; P=0,014) and wider aortas than women. The maximum
infrarenal aortic diameter is wider in men than in women (F=15; P<0,001). Aortic diameter
increases with age in both, men and women, but the length doesn't increse (r=0,58; P=0,704).
Body mass index isn't associated with diameter and length of the abdominal aorta (r=0,05;
P=0,748). We haven't found the differences in diameter changes between the visceral and
infrarenal part of the abdominal aorta: the diameter of aorta at the level of the right renal
artery is in participans age ≥60 years 0,45 cm wider than in participans age ≤39 years
(Bonferoni; P=0,013); the diameter of aorta at the bifurcation is 0,39 cm wider in participans
age ≥60 years than in participans age ≤39 years (Bonferoni; P=0,015).
Conclusions: Our results show that the aobdominal aorta changes morphologicaly with age
and it is wider in men. However, we didn't prove that there are age related differences in
morphological changes of the abdominal aorta between the upper and infrarenal part. Further
and larger studies are needed to determine this relationship.
