Abstract | Stojan Stojanov Gančev (Ajtos, Bugarska, 28. 12. 1929. – Zagreb, 25. 12. 2018.) bio je operni pjevač (dramski tenor) te vokalni pedagog. Svoje formalno glazbeno obrazovanje je započeo 1954. godine na Muzičkoj akademiji u Sofiji u klasi profesora Hrista Brmbarova. Već 1957. je debitirao u Državnom glazbenom kazalištu u Sofiji u opereti Eine Nacht in Vendig Johana Straussa. Na opernoj sceni je po prvi puta nastupio kao Rodolfo u La bohѐme 1960. godine u Državnoj operi u Varni gdje je bio zaposlen sve do 1964. Ujesen iste godine je postao član Makedonskog narodnog kazališta, a 1969. član Opere Hrvatskog narodnog kazališta u Zagrebu gdje je djelovao kao solist do umirovljenja 1994. Osim angažmana u HNK-u u Zagrebu, bio je i stalan gost beogradske, novosadske, skopske, ljubljanske, osječke i sarajevske Opere s kojima je realizirao niz uspješnih projekata, a odlazio je i na gostovanja izvan granica tadašnje Jugoslavije. U karijeri je otpjevao više od 50 uloga, a one prema kojima je ostao najprepoznatljivi su: Otello (Otello), Radamѐs (Aida), Manrico (Il trovatore), Pollione (Norma), Herman (Pikovaja dama), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor).
Ovaj rad se bavi kronološkim prikazom njegovog života, umjetničkog te pedagoškog djelovanja. Podaci o Stojanovljevom životu te umjetničkoj karijeri su izneseni paralelno na temelju njegove biografije koju je napisala Marija Barbieri za svoju knjigu Bugarski pjevači na hrvatskoj opernoj sceni koja je nadopunjena korištenjem arhivskih izvora, novinskih napisa i obiteljskih priča. Za potrebe ovog rada korištena je arhivska građa sa sljedećih lokacija: Državna agencija „Arhivi“ u Sofiji, Državni arhiv Varna, Arhiv Narodnog pozorišta Sarajevo, Muzej Narodnog pozorišta Beograd, Arhiv Hrvatskog narodnog kazališta Zagreb, Arhiv Hrvatskog narodnog kazališta Osijek te Odsjek za povijest hrvatskog kazališta Zavoda za povijest hrvatske književnosti, kazališta i glazbe HAZU Zagreb. Obrađeni podaci svjedoče o važnosti ovog umjetnika za kazališni život na području bivše Jugloslavije u drugoj polovici 20. stoljeća, a mogu poslužiti i za daljnja istraživanja Stojanovljeva života i djelovanja, kao i hrvatskog glazbenog i kazališnog života općenito. |
Abstract (english) | Stojan Stojanov Gančev (Ajtos, Bulgaria, December 28, 1929 – Zagreb, December 25, 2018) was an opera singer (dramatic tenor) and vocal pedagogue. He began his formal musical education in 1954 at the Music Academy in Sofia under the guidance of Professor Hristo Brmbarov. Already in 1957, he made his debut at the State Music Theatre in Sofia in Johann Strauss's operetta Eine Nacht in Venedig. He first appeared on the opera stage as Rodolfo in La bohème in 1960 at the State Opera in Varna, where he was employed until 1964. In the fall of the same year, he became a member of the Macedonian National Theatre, and in 1969, a member of the Croatian National Theatre Opera in Zagreb, where he worked as a soloist until his retirement in 1994. In addition to his engagement at the Croatian National Theatre Opera in Zagreb, he was a frequent guest at the opera houses in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Skopje, Ljubljana, Osijek, and Sarajevo, collaborating on numerous successful projects. He also participated in international tours outside the former Yugoslavia. Throughout his career, he performed more than 50 roles. Some of his most outstanding roles are: Otello (Otello), Radamès (Aida), Manrico (Il trovatore), Pollione (Norma), Herman (Pikovaja dama), and Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor).
This work provides a chronological overview of his life, as well as his artistic and pedagogical activities. Information about Stojanov's life and artistic career is presented in parallel based on his biography written by Marija Barbieri for her book Bugarski pjevači na hrvatskoj opernoj sceni and supplemented by archival sources, newspaper articles, and family stories. The research material for this work was gathered from the following locations: State Agency "Archives" in Sofia, State Archive Varna, National Theatre Sarajevo Archive, Museum of the National Theatre Belgrade, Croatian National Theatre Zagreb Archive, Croatian National Theatre Osijek Archive, and the Department for the History of Croatian Theatre at the Institute for Croatian Literature, Theatre, and Music of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb. The processed data bears witness to the significance of this artist for the theatrical life in the former Yugoslavia during the second half of the 20th century, and it can serve as a basis for further research into Stojanov's life and activities, as well as Croatian musical and theatrical life in general. |
