In this thesis, the selection of the vertical truss for the building „Westgate B“ is made. The introductory part describes what a light construction is, what are the stages when constructing a light construction, and what should be followed during construction. Then, the general calculation of variable and constant load is presented, following all applicable norms and regulations. The variable load calculation consists of defining the basic pressure caused by the wind speed, the peak pressure caused by the wind speed, the wind pressure on the surface of the structure and finally the wind force acting on the structure. The permanent load calculation is defined depending on the position of movable and fixed supports. Then the technical characteristics of aluminum alloy AlMgSi0,5 are presented. The vertical truss is dimensioned with regard to its load capacity and stability. The calculation of dimensioning of joints and calculation of thermal efficiency is presented. In the project task, the values used in the calculation of the statics of the object are presented, and they are compared with the new calculated values based on all the new norms and regulations.
