The conceptual part of the project was to develop a smart home system from scratch. The project was divided into two parts. My colleague was responsible for creating the internet application for managing the smart home, while this paper focuses on the sensor systems in smart homes. This paper explores the use of sensor systems and their hardware and software integration. Smart homes utilize various sensors to automate and enhance the functionality of the home, including lighting control, temperature regulation, security systems, and air quality monitoring. Sensors such as motion sensors, temperature sensors, humidity sensors, and smoke detectors are analyzed in detail. Additionally, the process of their hardware integration into smart home systems using the MDuino platform is explained. Along with hardware integration, the software component that enables monitoring and control through an internet application is also described. The paper emphasizes the importance of selecting the right sensors and their configuration for the optimal functioning of the smart home.
