This paper provides a detailed analysis of contributions related to income from dependent work in the Republic of Croatia, with a particular focus on mandatory contributions for pension and health insurance. The paper examines different types of contributions that employers and employees are required to pay, including contributions for pension insurance based on generational solidarity (Pillar I) and contributions for pension insurance based on individual capitalized savings (Pillar II). It also analyzes the role of contributions for mandatory health insurance, with special attention to different categories of insured persons, such as individuals with disabilities and workers with extended service periods. The paper considers the bases for calculating contributions, including minimum and maximum monthly and annual bases, and provides an overview of the legal provisions governing this area. The paper also covers special cases, such as the payment of contributions for insured persons engaged in self-employment and the conditions under which the right to insurance service with extended duration is realized.
