The business crisis is an integral part of the economic cycle that sooner or later affects every company. The best way to avoid the consequences of a business crisis is to detect it early. Theoretical settings deal with three forms of crisis such as potential, latent and acute crisis. The least determinants of the associated early warning signals are assigned to a potential crisis. In the focus of this paper, potential, latent and acute crises are presented by liquidity indicators, structure of operating incomes and profitability indicators. The purpose of the research is to examine the existence of warning signals through various forms of crisis and their time coverage and impact on selected companies. The research analyzed the operations of nine companies in the period from 2015 to 2018. The selected companies include three sectors: manufacturing, construction and hospitality. In the observed period, some companies were affected by some form of crisis, while others were operating successfully. The analysis of individual indicators of liquidity, income and profitability trends tried to determine which of the indicators more precisely indicated the problems in business. Regardless of the fact that these indicators are useful tools in determining an individual form of crisis, they should be taken as a reserve, because none of them can predict a possible crisis with sufficient certainty. It would be desirable to consider other parameters from which a conclusion can be drawn abo ut the business of the company, because accurate prediction of the future of business is key to avoiding a crisis.
