cijeljenja rane, početak laktacije, uspostava ovarijske funkcije.
mobiditeta i mortaliteta.
urinoinfekcije, infekcije rane, tromboza i tromboembolija.
većih i ozbiljnijih komplikacija.
"10 koraka do
psiholoških i fizičkih iskustava žene kao i najboljim dostupnim dokazima.
Abstract (english) A postpartum period or puerperium is the period beginning after the end of the
4th stage. Puerperium extends for about 6 weeks (or 40 days after the birth), the time
needed for the genital organs' changes to disappear and for the organs to return to the
pre-pregnancy state. Processes which mark the postpartum period are involutionary
processes, the processes of wound healing, lactation beginnings and ovarial function
establishment. Possible pathology that could appear in the given time is the main cause
of maternal morbidity and mortality. Urinary tract infections, wound infections,
thrombosis and thromboembolism appear in this period. During the postpartum period a
women goes through post-birth recovery, but postpartum psychiatric disorders and postbirth
depression appear. After the child's birth (called a newborn for the first 28 days of
his life), first supply for the newborn, vitality assesment and midwife's intervention (in
case of complications for both the mother and the child) are required. Breastfeeding is a
process in which a women feeds the newborn baby with her breast milk. During the
breastfeeding possible complications might appear and therefore a maximum hygiene
and midwife's intervention (in case of more serious complications) are required.
Education about breastfeeding is also required and all parents-to-be should be given
information about the advantages of breastfeeding as well as the normal process of the
beginning of breastfeeding after the childbirth and how can it be facilitated e.g. "10
steps to successful breastfeeding". Women always had the need for a close female
friend to stand next to them during the childbirth to feel safe and taken care of. Today,
midwife has an important role in enlightening of women, families and wider
community. Midwifery care is based on the understanding of social, emotional, cultural,
spiritual, psychological and physical experiences of woman as well as the best available
proofs.
