Abstract
Difuzijski mjerene snimke (DWI) su doživile brz i veliki napredak, počevši od jednog eksperimentalnog alata do dobro utvrđene kliničke metodologije koja je prvenstveno iskorištena za procjenu akutne cerebralne ishemije. Poput T1 i T2 vremena relaksacije, difuzija se može gledati kao intrinzična osobina tkiva. Kao tako, DWI može biti korisna i u oslikavanju ekstrakranijalnih organa poput solidnih organa u trbušnoj šupljini ili u osteomuskulatornom sustavu. Sposobnost da se odredi difuzijski koeficijent in-vivo ima velik potencijal da unaprijedi naše razumijevanje normalnog od patološkog, fokalnu od difuzne bolesti unutar ljudskog tijela. Povijesno, većina fizioloških procesa sprječavaju korisnu primjenu DWI-a u klinici. No unatoč tome, razvojem kompjuterske tehnologije i programskih rješenja, pulsnih sekvenci itd., došlo se do snažnog alata s prihvatljivim slikovnim kvalitetama i izvrsnog dijagnostičnog potencijala. Uz sve ovo i uz daljnja klinička istraživanja DWI tehnike će sigurno olakšati dijagnostička istraživanja različitih bolesti.
Abstract (english)
DWI tehniques have quickly grown from a simple experimental tool to a well established clinical method which was firstly been used to evaluate acute cerebral ischemia. Just as T1 and T2 relaxation time, diffusion can be seen as an intrisic tissue characteristic. For this reason, DWI can be used in imaging of extracranial organs like solid organs within the abdomen or the muskoloskeletal system. The ability to determine in-vivo diffusion coefficients has great potential to forwarding our understanding of normal from pathotogical tissue, focal from diffuse disease within the body. Looking back, most of the physiological processes have come between the useful application of DWI in answering clinical questions. But despite that, with the developement of computer technologie, hardware and software, pulse sequences and other, has lead to a strong tool with acceptable image quality and excellent diagnostic potential. With all of this and with further clinical trails, DWI tehniques will surely ease the diagnostic of different diseases.
