Abstract
Bijelo masno tkivo se dugo vremena smatralo samo pasivnim spremištem energije, no u zadnjih dvadesetak godina masno tkivo je prepoznato kao vrlo aktivan endokrini i metabolički organ koji stvara i izlučuje bioaktivne peptide, adipokine, koji moduliraju apetit, potrošnju energije, osjetljivost na inzulin, endokrini i reproduktivni sustav, koštani metabolizam. Nadalje, adipokini sudjeluju u regulaciji upalnih procesa i imunosnih odgovora te se na temelju toga mogu podijeliti na proupalne i protuupalne adipokine. Adipokine ne stvaraju samo adipociti već i druge stanice prisutne u masnom tkivu. Smatra se da proupalni adipokini sudjeluju u razvoju otpornosti na inzulin te povećanju rizika od kardiovaskularnih bolesti.
Abstract (english)
White adipose tissue was considered as a passive energy storage, but in last twenty years, adipose tissue has been recognised as a highly active endocrine and metabolic organ that produces and secretes bioactive peptides, adipokines, that modulate appetite, energy consumption, insulin sensitivity, endocrine and reproductive system, and bone metabolism. Furthermore, adipokines are involved in the regulation of inflammatory and immune responses, and based on that they can be devided in pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory adipokines. Adipokines are produced not only by adipocytes but also from other cell present in the adipose tissue. It is believed that pro-inflammatory adipokines are involved in the development of insulin resistance and increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
