Abstract
Maslina (Olea europaea L.) je malo zimzeleno drvo i vrlo stara biljna vrsta čija uporaba seže daleko u prošlost. Raste pretežito na području Mediterana te se upotrebljava u mnoge svrhe jer obiluje bioaktivnim komponentama s mogućim pozitivnim utjecajem na zdravlje ljudi. U ovom završnom radu provedene su ekstrakcija, pročišćavanje i karakterizacija fenolnih spojeva u listu masline. Etilacetatni ekstrakt, dobiven ekstrakcijom tekuće-tekuće, pročišćen je preparativnom tankoslojnom kromatografijom, čime su dobivene tri dominantne frakcije koje su karakterizirane IR spektroskopijom. Ukupni fenoli i flavonoidi određeni su spektrofotometrijskim metodama. S obzirom na provedena ispitivanja i dobivene rezultate, može se zaključiti kako je list masline značajan izvor fenolnih spojeva s mogućim biološkim potencijalom.
Abstract (english)
Olive (Olea europaea L.) is a small evergreen tree and a very old plant species which has been used since ancient times. It grows predominantly in the Mediterranean area and is used for many purposes as it has significant number of bioactive components that have potential positive effect on human health. In this bachelor thesis, an extraction, purification and characterization of phenolic compounds from the olive leaf were conducted. An ethyl-acetate extract, that was carried out using liquid-liquid extraction, was purified by preparative thin layer chromatography by which it was separated into three dominant fractions which were characterized using IR spectroscopy. Total phenols and flavonoids were determined by the spectrophotometric methods. Based on the conducted tests and results, it can be concluded that an olive leaf is a significant source of phenolic compounds that may have biological potential.
