Abstract
Smjernice za prehranu sportaša timskih sportova su u svijetu relativno dobro razrađene, ali zbog isprekidanih obrazaca aktivnosti visokih intenziteta, točni nutritivni zahtjevi vrhunskih košarkaša variraju između pozicija igrača te utakmice ili treninga. Zbog znatnog interesa za Mediteransku prehranu tijekom godina, opsežno je proučavano pridržavanje ovog obrasca prehrane, ali povezanost košarke kao timskog sporta i Mediteranske prehrane do sada nije istraživano što ovom znanstvenom radu pridaje na dodatnoj vrijednosti. Cilj ovog rada bio je usporediti usklađenost načina prehrane grčkih i hrvatskih košarkaša s Mediteranskom prehranom. Kao metoda procjene usvajanja mediteranske prehrane, primijenjeno je prethodno validirano polukvantitativno ispitivanje prehrambene frekvencije pomoću mediteranskog indeksa kakvoće hrane (MDS). Procjenjena je konzumacija određenih skupina namirnica kao broj obroka tjedno. Saznanja proizašla iz eksperimentalnog dijela ove studije uvelike mogu pomoći u kreiranju optimalnog obrasca prehrane vrhunskih i rekreativnih košarkaša i posljedično pridonjeti kvalitetnijoj sportskoj izvedbi.
Abstract (english)
Guidelines for team sports nutrition are relatively well developed in the world, but due to intermittent patterns of high intensity activity, the exact nutritional requirements of top basketball players vary between the players' position of the match or the training. Because of the considerable interest in Mediterranean nutrition over the years, the adherence to this dietary pattern has been extensively studied, but the relationship between basketball as a team sport and Mediterranean are not substantially reported. The aim of the study was to record the food intake and estimate the adherence to the prudent dietary model of the Mediterranean diet in elite basketball players. As a dietary assessment method, a previously validated, semi-quantitative food-frequency questionnaire (FFQ) was administered. The FFQ assessed food groups consumption as number of servings per week. The adoption of the Mediterranean diet was assessed a priori with the use of the MedDietScore. MedDietScore can be applied as a useful and practical tool for the estimation of the dietary habits of elite basketball players and the adoption of nutritional interventions aiming to improve the dietary patterns.
