Abstract
Valorizacija otpada nastalog preradom agruma, koji uključuje i otpadnu koru naranče, predstavlja održiv način dobivanja proizvoda dodane vrijednosti. Kako bi ekstrakcija bioaktivnih spojeva bila ekološki prihvatljiva, poželjna je upotreba zelenih otapala poput prirodnih eutektičkih otapala. U ovom radu ispitana je mogućnost primjene četiri prirodna eutektička otapala s udjelima vode od 30, 50 i 80 % (v/v) u valorizaciji otpadne kore naranče. Prirodna eutektička otapala pokazala su se učinkovitijim za ekstrakciju polifenolnih spojeva iz kore naranče u odnosu na zakiseljeni etanol, no nedovoljno učinkovitim za ekstrakciju D-limonena u usporedbi s n-heptanom korištenim kao referentno otapalo. Osim toga, pokazalo se da je ekstrakcija proteina iz kore naranče primjenom prirodnih eutektičkih otapala učinkovita uz izbor otapala odgovarajućeg sastava i udjela vode. Ispitana je i mogućnost primjene prirodnih eutektičkih otapala kao otapala za enantioselektivnu hidrolizu (kinetičku rezoluciju) (R,S)-1-feniletil-acetata uz primjenu kore naranče kao izvora hidrolitičkih enzima, pri čemu su hidrolitički enzimi pokazali znatno veću enantioselektivnost u prirodnim eutektičkim otapalima u odnosu na pufer kao referentno otapalo.
Abstract (english)
Valorization of citrus processing waste, which includes orange peel waste, is a sustainable way to obtain value-added products. To make the extraction of bioactive compounds environmentally friendly, the use of green solvents such as natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) is preferred. In this paper, the possibility of using four NADES with 30, 50, and 80 % of water (w/w) in the valorization of orange peel waste has been investigated. NADES proved to be more efficient for the extraction of polyphenolic compounds from orange peel compared to acidified ethanol, however they were not efficient enough for the extraction of D-limonene compared to n-heptane used as a reference solvent. In addition, the extraction of proteins from orange peel using NADES has proved to be efficient by using NADES with appropriate composition and water content. The possibility of using NADES as solvents for enantioselective hydrolysis (kinetic resolution) of (R,S)-1-phenylethyl acetate with the use of orange peel as a source of hydrolytic enzymes was also examined, where hydrolytic enzymes showed significantly higher enantioselectivity in NADES compared to the buffer used as a reference solvent.
