Abstract
Koncept raspoložive energije je korisniji od energetske ravnoteže jer je bolji pokazatelj deficita energije. Niska raspoloživa energija se pojavljuje kada organizam nema dovoljno energije za obavljanje fizioloških potreba. Pojavljuje se namjerno kada se preniskim energetskim unosom želi smanjiti tjelesna masa ili nenamjerno kada energetski unos ne prati visoke energetske potrebe nastale velikom energetskom potrošnjom uslijed intenziviranja treninga. Relativna energetska deficijencija u sportu (relative energy deficiency in sports, tj. RED-S) opisuje negativne učinke niske raspoložive energije na zdravlje i sportsku izvedbu. Umjetničko plivanje je estetski sport u kojem je važan izgled tijela te je cilj ovog rada utvrditi imaju li umjetničke plivačice rizik od niske raspoložive energije te razvoja RED-S. Dosadašnja istraživanja prikazuju kako su sportašice estetskih sportova, pa tako i umjetničke plivačice, u riziku od posljedica niske raspoložive energije. Do sada je provedeno samo jedno istraživanje na tu temu i rezultati pokazuju kako za vrijeme intenzivnih priprema pred natjecanje plivačice imaju nisku količinu raspoložive energije. Daljnja istraživanja će vjerojatno pružiti informacije o specifičnim posljedicama i načinima popravljanja ovog problema kod ovih sportašica.
Abstract (english)
The concept of energy availability is more useful than energy balance because it's a better indicator of energy deficit. Low available energy occurs when the body doesn't have enough energy to perform physiological needs. It can occur intentionally when too low energy intake is intended to reduce body weight or unintentionally when energy intake does not follow the high energy needs caused by high energy consumption due to intensified training. Relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S) describes the negative effects of low energy availability on health and athletic performance. Artistic swimming is an aesthetic sport in which the appearance of the body is important and the aim of this paper is to determine whether artistic swimmers are at risk of low energy availability and the development of RED-S. Previous research shows that aesthetic sports athletes, including artistic swimmers, are at risk of consequences caused by low energy availability. So far, only one study was conducted on this topic and the results show that during intensive preparations before the competition, swimmers have low energy availability. Therefore, further research will probably give more information about specific consequences and ways of fixing this problem in these female athletes.
