Quality management systems and food safety are essential for survival of food companies on both the national and global market. Population growth influenced on population's awareness of cleanliness, hygiene and quality of food products, which made manufacturers to produce health-care products. Because of that key role have food safety standards. Over the past few decades the importance of quality has also increased in the food industry sector due to higher customer expectations, legal regulations and increased competition. Throughout the years, many national and private standards of food safety and quality have been written, each of which has a different approach. Standards are mainly defined through parameters which classify similar products into categories and described them by terminology that is easily understandable to all market participants. Global standards refer to the food, packaging, packaging materials, distribution of primary producers as well as distributors. This paper will show the fundamental goal of IFS-food standard and contribution of the system to the business performance of the company. Through this graduate paper, a pre-certification audit based on IFS-food standard has been carried out in the sea salt processing plant. Preparation was made for certification according to IFS food standard, and the results of the research have shown over 222 requirements. Of those "full compliance" rating or "almost full compliance - grade B" have shown for more than 94% of requirements while " small part of the requirement has been implemented- rating C " and „requirement has not been implemented- grade D " observed in 6% of the requirements.
