Abstract
S porastom svjetske populacije povecavaju se potrebe za hranom, a samim time i za intenzivnim uzgo­jem biljnih i životinjskih vrsta. Zapadnjačka prehrana, uz velik rizik za razvoj nezaraznih kroničnih bolesti ima i veliki negativan učinak (otisak) na planet Zemlju - od emisije ugljika do potrošnje pitke vode. Emisije stakleničkih plinova uzrokovane lancem opskrbe stoke čine vise od 14% svih emisija uzrokovanih ljudskim djelovanjem . Stoga je nužno potrebna promjena koja će zadovoljiti potrebe da­ našnjice bez ugrožavanja sposobnosti budućih generacija za zadovoijavanje vlastitih potreba, tzv. odr­živi razvoj. On obuhvaća prelazak na održive obrasce prehrane, među kojima se ističu mediteranska, vegetarijanska i paleolitička prehrana. Cilj ovog rada je dati kratki pregled trenutnih spoznaja o održi­vim obrascima prehrane u odnosu na zapadnjački način prehrane koji provodi vecina populacije. lako svi navedeni obrasci prehrane pridonose zaštiti planeta i zdravlja ljudi u određenoj mjeri, mediteranska prehrana se zbog sinergističkog utjecaja na okoliš i ljudsko zdravlje uzima kao glavni održivi obrazac pravilne prehrane .
Abstract (english)
With the growth of the world's population, food needs are increasing, and thus the need for the intensive cultivation of plant and animal species. The Western diet, in addition to the high risk of developing non­ communicable diseases, also has a large negative effect on the planet (footprint) - from carbon emis­sions to fresh water consumption. Greenhouse gas emissions from the livestock supply chain account for more than 14% of all human-induced emissions. Therefore, change is urgently needed to meet the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs- the so­ called sustainable development. It includes the transition to sustainable diets, among which the Med i­ terranean, Vegetarian and Paleolithic diets stand out. The aim of this paper is to give a brief overview of current knowledge on sustainable eating patterns in relation to the Western way of eating practised by the majority of the population. Although all mentioned patterns to some extent contribute to the protection of the planet and human health Mediterranean diet has synergistic effect with exceptional impact on the environment and human health and for this reason, is proposed as the best sustainable eating pattern.
