Abstract
Fenilketonurija je metabolička nasljedna bolest, koju karakterizira poremećaj metabolizma fenilalanina, a za čiju je kontrolu i prevenciju simptoma potrebna cjeloživotna primjena posebnog režima prehrane. Glavna karakteristika dijete je prehrana s niskim udjelom proteina. Unutar populacije oboljelih prevalencija pretilosti je u stalnom porastu. Cilj ovog rada je istražiti povezanost dijetoterapije fenilketonurije i povećane prevalencije pretilosti kod oboljelih. Naglasak je stavljen na prehrambene obrasce koji su potencijalni rizični čimbenici za razvoj pretilosti. Iako s obzirom na postojeću literaturu nije moguće otkriti glavni razlog visoke prevalencije pretilosti kod oboljelih od fenilketonurije, većina istraživanja usmjerila se na sljedeće nutritivne obrasce kao rizične: povećani unos ugljikohidrata i to uglavnom iz nutritivno siromašnijih izvora, nedovoljna konzumacija proteinskih pripravaka koji pružaju osjećaj sitosti i smanjuju potrebu za drugom energijski bogatijom hranom te slabo praćenje nutritivnih preporuka ulaskom u adolescenciju radi veće slobode u pripremi hrane i pritiska društva.
Abstract (english)
Phenylketonuria is a genetic metabolic disorder, characterised by abnormal phenylalanine metabolism, for whose control and prevention of symptoms, a specific lifetime diet needs to be followed. Main characteristic of dietotherapy is low protein intake. The aim of this paper is to discover the connection between phenylketonuria dietotherapy and increased prevalence of obesity in those suffering from this condition. The emphasis is placed on nutritional patterns which potentially lead to development of obesity. Although by reviewing literature it is hard to pinpoint the exact cause of high prevalence of obesity of population with phenylketonuria, majority of researchers focus on following patterns as the critical ones: increased carbohydrate intake (usually from nutritionally poor food), inadequate consumption of protein substitutes which offer a feeling of satiety and decrease the consumption of more energy dense food and low consistency with nutritional recommendations during adolescence due to bigger freedom in food preparation and social pressure.
