Abstract
Endometrioza je složeni klinički sindrom, multifaktorijalne etiologije i visoke prevalencije. Pogađa žene reproduktivne dobi te je okarakteriziran estrogen-ovisnim kroničnim upalnim procesom koji zahvaća prvenstveno tkivo zdjelice, uključujući jajnike. Uz hormonsku terapiju žene se okreću alternativnim metodama kontrole simptoma, kao što su promjena prehrambenih navika i uvođenje suplementacije. Cilj ovog završnog rada bio je prikupiti dostupne informacije o utjecaju određenih komponenti hrane i suplementacije na kliničke parametre. Postoji mnoštvo suplemenata na tržištu, no utjecaj na razvoj endometrioze nije u potpunosti ispitan i točne preporuke nisu određene. Iako postoji potencijal u ovim alternativnim metodama, potrebni su dodatni dokazi o učinku prehrane i suplemenata na poboljšanje kvalitete života oboljelih žena.
Abstract (english)
Endometriosis is a complex clinical syndrome with multifactorial etiology and high prevalence. It affects women of reproductive age and is characterized by an estrogen-dependent chronic inflammatory process that primarily affects pelvic tissue, including the ovaries. Along with hormone therapy, women turn to alternative methods of symptom control, such as changing dietary habits and introducing supplementation. The goal of this undergraduate thesis was to gather available information on the influence of certain food components and supplementation on clinical parameters. There are many supplements on the market, but the impact on the development of endometriosis has not been fully tested and exact recommendations have not been determined. Although there is potential in these alternative methods, further evidence is needed on the effect of diet and supplements on improving the quality of life of affected women.
