Abstract
Štitnjača je vitalna endokrina žlijezda koja ima ključnu ulogu u regulaciji bazalnog metabolizma lučenjem hormona štitnjače. Smanjeno ili povećano lučenje hormona može dovesti do različitih poremećaja čiji simptomi variraju od blagih do vrlo ozbiljnih, pa čak i po život opasnih. Bolesti štitnjače su drugi najčešći endokrini poremećaj u trudnoći te je stoga neophodna liječnička intervencija već pri javljanju prvih simptoma bolesti, kao i česta mjerenja razine hormona kako bi se zdravlje majke i fetusa držalo u optimalnim granicama te kako bi se bolest eventualno spriječila prije nastanka ozbiljnih simptoma. Određeni nutrijenti, kao što su jod, selen, cink, željezo i određeni vitamini dokazali su se korisnima u usporavanju tijeka bolesti. Konceptualni model je jednostavna metoda širenja informacija o određenoj temi. Konceptualni modeli na temu trudnoće, štitnjače i prehrane u prehrambenom savjetovanju pacijenata su alat koji se koristi u dijagnozi, razumijevanju promjena i u edukaciji te je u ovome radu dan osnovni pregled tih modela i njihovo uvođenje u nutricionističku praksu.
Abstract (english)
The thyroid gland is a vital endocrine gland that plays a key role in the regulation of basal metabolism by secreting thyroid hormones. Reduced or increased secretion of hormones can lead to various disorders whose symptoms vary from mild to very serious and even life-threatening. Thyroid diseases are the second most common endocrine disorder in pregnancy, and therefore medical intervention is necessary at the first symptoms of the disease, as well as frequent measurements of hormone levels in order to keep the health of the mother and fetus within optimal limits and to possibly prevent the disease before the appearance of serious symptoms. Certain nutrients, such as iodine, selenium, zinc, iron and certain vitamins have been shown to be beneficial in slowing the progression of the disease. A conceptual model is a simple method of disseminating information about a certain topic. Conceptual models on the topic of pregnancy, thyroid and nutrition in nutritional counselling of patients are a tool used in diagnosis, understanding changes and in education, and this thesis gives a basic overview of these models and their introduction into nutritional practice.
