Abstract
Oksidacijski stres uobičajeni je patogeni mehanizam koji doprinosi inicijaciji i razvoju oštećenja i raznih bolesti jetre. Može biti uzrokovan djelovanjem različitih lijekova ili toksičnih tvari. Oštećenja stanica pojavljuju se pri povišenim koncentracijama reaktivnih kisikovih i dušikovih spojeva ili pri nedostatku antioksidansa. Oksidacijska oštećenja jetre dovode do lipidne peroksidacije. Sastojci Ginkgo bilobe reagiraju s reaktivnim kisikovim spojevima, što dovodi do inhibicije lipidne peroksidacije, održavanja integriteta i permeabilnosti stanične membrane te zaštite stanica i tkiva od oksidacijskog stresa. Hepatoprotektivna aktivnost Ginka bilobe pripisuje se njegovoj antioksidacijskoj aktivnosti i sposobnosti povišenja aktivnosti endogenih enzima koji uklanjaju slobodne radikale kao što su superoksid dismutaza (SOD), katalaza (CAT) te razine neenzimskog antioksidansa glutationa. U ovom radu istražio se antioksidacijski utjecaj biljnih dodataka prehrani u tkivu jetre štakora Y59. Pratila se aktivnost superoksid dismutaze, katalaze te koncentracije reduciranog glutationa (GSH) i malondialdehida (MDA) kao indikatora oksidacijskog stresa. U odnosu na kontrolu, aktivnosti SOD, CAT i GSH statistički su značajno povišene (p<0,05) kod dva ispitivana suplementa, dok je koncentracija MDA značajno povećana (p<0,05) u jednom od ispitivanih dodataka prehrani.
Abstract (english)
Oxidative stress is a common pathogenic mechanism that contributes to the development of various liver diseases. It can be caused by various drugs or toxic substances. Cell damage occur at elevated concentrations of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, or in absence of antioxidants. Oxidative damage to the liver leads to lipid peroxidation. Ginkgo biloba inhibits lipid peroxidation, helps to maintain the integrity and permeability of cell membranes and protects cells and tissues against oxidative stress induced by free radicals. Hepatoprotective effect of Ginkgo biloba is expressed through its antioxidant activity which is attributed to the ability to increase levels of free radical-scavenging enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and the non-enzymatic antioxidant gluthatione (GSH). In this paper we investigated the antioxidant effect of herbal supplements in liver tissues of rats Y59. Activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase and concentrations of reduced glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were evaluated as indicators of oxidative stress. Compared to the control group, SOD, CAT and GSH significantly increased (p <0.05) in two tested supplements, while the MDA concentration increased significantly (p <0.05) in one of the tested supplements.
